Dirt and midi latency problem

asked 2016-12-25 14:57:37 -0600

Hi,

Using tidal to drive both, an external synth via midi, and playing samples on dirt, at the same time, I get some latency, with dirt lagging behind external synth driven by midi.

What is the best way to sync the two?

I found an answer from blaerg, indicating that I can nudge the midi, to introduce some latency by doing:

let bump = (|+| nudge "0.15")

    d1 $ bump $ sound "x:1 x:2 x:3 ~"
    synth $ note "{2 0 2}%4"

In this example we are nudging the samples part, in the same way, one can nudge the midi. I found that nudging the midi by 0.11 keeps everything in sync, but obviously this value is right for my system.
