How can I get multi-laptop working

asked 2017-06-15 16:36:30 -0500

I'm using tidal-0.9.4 on OSX with atom and the plugin. I have two computers on a LAN each with superdirt running inside supercollider. When I run e.g. TIDAL_TEMPO_IP=192.168.0.1 atom from a terminal on one computer I get the error message Failed to connect to tidal server. Try specifying a different port etc.

Without a more specific error message, I don't have enough knowledge to get any further! I've tried disabling the firewalls on both machines, and specifying a random other port to no avail. What's the recommended way to allow me to run tidal commands on another laptop? I spoke to Alex briefly about some kind of web interface but didn't have time to press him for the details!

Hmm this should work.. Have you verified that 192.168.0.1 is the IP of the other computer? Also have you started tidal on the remote computer before attempting to connect to it on the local one? Sorry if these are obvious questions but not sure what to suggest..

I had the correct IP address! And tidal on the remote machine was running and playing sounds as I tried to connect from local. I hadn't tried to synchronise the computer clocks, and I have ghc installed via stack, which might create some weirdness. I suspect security settings are blocking something
